在香港中文大学（深圳）十年的辉煌历程中，时光如流，书香永恒。十年的岁月见证了无数学子的成长，也见证了知识的传承与创新。作为知识的港湾，图书馆承载着学术的力量和智慧的火花，成为学术探索和思维启迪的重要场所。从黄宜弘梁凤仪伉俪图书馆到大学图书馆，抚今追昔，让我们一起回顾这十年的奋斗与成就，并展望未来的发展。

In the glorious journey of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, time flows while the essence of books endures.  Over the past decade, this institution has nurtured countless students and fostered the advancement of knowledge. The Library, a beacon of wisdom, fuels academic exploration and intellectual enlightenment. From the Philip Wong Yu-hong & Anita Leung Fung-yee Library to the University Library, let us celebrate the achievements of the past and embrace the unfolding future.

始建于2014年的香港中文大学（深圳）图书馆，在过去的十年里不断扩展和丰富纸本馆藏。图书馆致力于完善采购流程，定期更新旧有文献采购办法，与出版社和供应商保持紧密合作，广泛搜集和评估各类图书资源，以确保馆藏的多样性和学术性。同时，图书馆积极探索新的资源采购模式和技术手段，以适应信息化、数字化时代的发展需求，推动图书馆事业的持续发展和创新。

Since its establishment in 2014, the Library of CUHK-Shenzhen has consistently grown and enhanced its physical collections over the past decade. The Library is committed to improving its acquisition processes, regularly updating procurement methods for existing literature, and fostering close collaboration with publishers and suppliers. It extensively gathers and evaluates diverse book resources to ensure the scholarly breadth and depth of its collections. Furthermore, the Library actively explores novel models and technological approaches for resource acquisition, adapting to the evolving demands of the digital age and propelling ongoing growth and innovation in the field of librarianship.

在过去的十年里，香港中文大学（深圳）图书馆的纸本馆藏从3万册发展到18万册，其中中文书9万余册，外文书8万余册，纸本报刊也稳定在100种左右。

In the span of the last ten years, the print collections of the Library of CUHK-Shenzhen have experienced a remarkable expansion, increasing from 30,000 volumes to an impressive 180,000 volumes. This substantial growth includes over 90,000 volumes of Chinese books and more than 80,000 volumes of foreign language books. The collection of physical newspapers and periodicals has also stabilized at around 100 titles.

此外，图书馆还根据读者对馆藏资源的不同需求，进行分类分区管理。2016年，图书馆在普通馆藏书架的基础上，增设参考工具书阅览架、教学参考书书架；2019年，在大学图书馆二楼增设预约书及教学参考书阅览室；2022年，增设新书展示架及教授推荐书架，用以向读者展示最新到馆的纸本馆藏和教授们的推荐阅读，激发校内师生的阅读兴趣和学术好奇心。

Moreover, the Library has implemented a comprehensive classification and zoning system to cater to the diverse needs of its users. In 2016, the Library expanded its standard bookshelves and introduced separate sections for reference materials and course reserve books. In 2019, a dedicated room was established on the second floor of the University Library specifically for user-requested books and course reserve materials. In 2022, new book display shelves and "Books Your Professors Read" shelves were added, showcasing the most recent additions to the print collections and books recommended by professors. These initiatives aim to ignite the reading interests and academic curiosity of both faculty and students within the university community.

除了图书馆自行采购，来自全校师生以及社会各界的捐赠书籍也对图书馆的纸本馆藏发展起到了至关重要的作用。这些捐赠书籍丰富了馆藏的多样性和深度，展示了社会对教育事业的支持和关注，为大学的教学与科研提供了更广阔的平台。

In addition to the Library's own procurement efforts, the generous donation of books from faculty, students, and individuals from various sectors of society has played a vital role in the development of the Library's print collections. These donated books have enriched the diversity and depth of the Library's holdings, showcasing the support and attention of society towards educational endeavours, and providing a broader platform for teaching and research within the university.

以香港中文大学为例，自建校之初至2018年，香港中文大学（深圳）图书馆共收到了超过3万册纸本书籍的捐赠。这些书籍涵盖了中国古典文学、历史、考古学、美术、医学和经济学等多个领域，还包括各类工具书和参考书。同时，图书馆还陆续收到了校内师生和社会热心人士的捐赠图书，数量超过4万5千册，其中中文书约4万3千册，外文书约2千余册。

For instance, the Library of CUHK-Shenzhen, taking the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an example, received over 30,000 donated volumes of print books from its establishment until 2018. These donated books encompass a wide range of fields, including classical Chinese literature, history, archaeology, fine arts, medicine, and economics. The collection also includes a diverse selection of reference books. Additionally, the Library has continuously received book donations from faculty, students, and members of the public, resulting in a total of over 45,000 volumes. Among these donations, there are approximately 43,000 volumes of Chinese books and over 2,000 volumes of foreign language books.

这些捐赠书籍的数量和种类丰富多样，为图书馆提供了更多的馆藏资源，满足了师生们的学术需求，同时也鼓励读者们积极阅读，养成良好的阅读习惯。

The generous donation of books, with its extensive quantity and wide array of topics, has significantly enhanced the Library's collection, offering abundant resources to satisfy the academic requirements of both faculty and students. Furthermore, these donations play a pivotal role in promoting active reading participation and fostering the development of positive reading habits among readers.

事实上，香港中文大学（深圳）一直致力于营造校园内的读书氛围。早在2016年，徐扬生校长就为此做出了具体的行动。他将自己收藏的一千多本中外图书放置于图书馆供读者们自由阅读。徐校长还亲自为同学们撰写了一封信，附在这些藏书旁边：

Indeed, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen has consistently dedicated efforts to foster a vibrant reading culture within its campus. As early as 2016, President Xu Yangsheng, an esteemed professor, took tangible steps in this endeavor. He generously contributed his personal collection of over a thousand Chinese and foreign books to the library, allowing readers to freely indulge in their content. Additionally, President Xu personally composed a letter addressed to the students, which was thoughtfully placed alongside the collection, further emphasizing the significance of the books and encouraging their exploration.

徐扬生校长的这封信虽然文字简单，却承载着他对各位同学从阅读中获取人生滋养的希望，而这也是港中大（深圳）对广大学子的期望所在。 正如一句古训所言：“外物之味，久则可厌；读书之味，愈久愈深。”

President Xu Yangsheng's letter, with its concise language, embodies his deep hope for fellow students to find intellectual nourishment through reading, aligning with the University's aspirations for its student community. As an ancient proverb wisely states, "The allure of material possessions may wane over time, but the pleasure of reading deepens the longer it is savoured."

正值建校十周年之际，让我们共同祝福香港中文大学（深圳）十岁生日快乐，一起感念过去的努力与付出，激励我们迈向更辉煌的未来。在这个十周年纪念系列中，让我们共同追寻知识的光芒，共享书香的魅力。让我们以图书馆为起点，书写更加出彩的明天！

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of its establishment, let us come together and extend our warmest wishes to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, on reaching this remarkable milestone.
